CHRISTA HOLDER OCKER (1943-2016)
Award winning, New York Times Best Selling contributing author, Christa Holder Ocker found inspiration through a life filled with love, laughter, tears and passion. Her short stories have been featured in the best selling Chicken Soup anthologies, including Miraculous Messages from Heaven, Hooked on Hockey, Devotional Stories for Tough Times, Happily Ever After, Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul, Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, and Chicken Soup for the Sister’s Soul. Her short story, “Merry Christmas, My friend” first appeared in Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, was adapted for television as “Goodbye My Friend” starring Mickey Rooney. “Merry Christmas, My friend” was published as a picture book in 2016, giving new life to this holiday classic. Her memoir, “Auf Wiedersehen: WWll Through The Eyes of A German Girl,” was a 2009 ForeWord Review, INDIES “Book of the Year” finalist. Christa loved writing, sailing, skiing, and frolicking with her twelve incredible grandchildren. Her final book, “For Goodness Sake Grandma” will be published by ShiresPress in fall 2017.
